Kitchen Sink Monday - KSS Challenge

Happy Kitchen Sink Monday! It's also challenge day here in the kitchen. This month, KSS designer Makiko is the challenge hostess - her challenge is to use KSS images and alter some back to school items with Kitchen Sink Stamps! Grab your KSS stamps, play along with this months challenge and be sure to enter at the KSS Blog.

I created two school themed projects (click to enlarge) for Makiko's challenge - a card using MJ's weekly sketch challenge and a paperweight, both using the 3 Step School Days from Kitchen Sink Stamps. The Red panel was embossed using the Numbers CuttleBug Folder (sorry it's now showing here - can't wait for my replacement bulb to arrive), because my panels were too long, I simply ran it through the Big Shot once, then moved over the panel and embossed the rest. To add some color to the embossed area, I used the CuttleBug Highlights Technique using Caramel Ink. I stamped the ruler from the 3 Step School Days on White card stock as follows: Step 3 in Chocolate Chip; Step 1 in Caramel, sponge the edges in Caramel then layer on a Chocolate Chip panel. The books were stamped as follows: Step 3 Real Red; Step 2 Caramel; Step 1 Caramel. The sentiment is from Kitchen Sink Stamps Multi Step Baby stamped in Chocolate Chip.

I picked up a whole bunch of paperweights last year at the Dollar Tree - they are great for altering. Here I stamped the book, then the apple on top, cut my White card stock with a Spellbinder Circle Die, then placed it inside the paperweight.

I LOVE the rulers in the background, you did such a great job spacing those out...they look like DP. The paperweight idea was fabulous too. Gonna have to shop at the Dollar Store more often. *giggle
