Trend Watch - IHP/PCP Blog Hop

The Paper Craft Planet Super Novas and the i {heart} papers design team have joined forces to deliver a showcase of the 2012 trends that were spotted at the Winter Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) Trade Show in Anaheim, CA.

One of the big trends being show at this years show was Chevrons - they are everywhere!  My projects feature a few of the wonderful Chevron papers found in the Authentique Comfort & Familiar Paper Pad.

I used a portion of the Chevron pattern for the layer on my card, cutting the bottom with a Spellbinders Edgeabilities Die, then layering it onto a Vanilla panel, then Chocolate base card.  The flower pieces were cut from this same pattern using the Silhouette Cameo and the 3dRuffle Flower.  To create the blossom, I pinched each petal, than stacked the cut flowers on top of each other, rotating the pattern and adding a Maya Road Unfinished Button tied with some Creative Impressions Brown Twine to the center.  I adhered the Blossom to the Chocolate Flourish pieces (Spellbinders) then to the base card with Glue Dots.

Here's a close up of the flower

My next card also features some of the Authentique paper in another Chevron pattern, I used this paper to create a masculine card.
The Shirt Template is  from the Silhouette Store.  Using the Silhouette Cameo, I cut the base from White card stock, and the Shirt/Tie/Pocket pieces from the Authentique paper.  The Mustard paper is the reverse side of the Chevron, I sponged the edges and popped them up for added dimension.

These are both fantastic. I love the chevron shirt. I'm pretty sure my dad had one of those. :) Thank you so much for playing along this month!

Wonderful card designs with the chevrons Lisa! I especially like the added scallop edge on the first card and we can always use masculine ideas.

I definitely noticed the chevron trend. Not a huge fan, but I like how you used it. Very manly.

The shirt card is cracking me up -- I saw someone wearing almost exactly that today! I'm going to have to Pin this so that I can remember it for Father's Day!

Beautiful job with both cards!

Dimension is very important to me. I like how you curled things just a little bit. Nice job.

Wow! Both are fabulous! Love the shaped shirt card -- it's so hard to do masculine stuff!
