Welcome to the Artistic Outpost Design Team Blog Hop! Each month, the fabulous designers at Artistic Outpost showcase projects created with various Artistic Outpost Plates/Themes, this months DT Blog Hop focus is Valentine or Love themed projects.
I still haven't cleaned up my studio, so I decided I'd created another Mixed Media project. My card uses images from the Think and Wonder, Cowgirl Strength and Typography plates. The background was created with Red/Pink/White Acrylic Paints, Stencils from The Crafters Workshop and the Gelli Arts Plate.
I created three different prints with the paints, stencils and Gelli Arts Plate. The largest panel was my first print, the second print is the lighter stamped pieces that I used to stamp the sentiment and paper piece the hat and banner. The third print (darkest print) is the panel that I stamped directly on and adhered my stamped cut out images/sentiment to.
To get the darker print, I placed the stencil over the wet paint on my Gelli Plate, brayered over the stencil and removed it - my Gelli Plate then looked like this
Working quickly I added a little more paint, then placed my card stock on top of the Gelli Plate and brayered. When lifted, the stencil area took on a darker tone then the rest of the card stock.
I stamped the sweet children from the Artistic Outpost Think and Wonder plate on Vanilla card stock and cut them away from their background. The hat was paper pieced, and the image colored with STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell Watercolor Pencils. The Banner from Cowgirl Strength is stamped directly onto the panel, then stamped again on a mono print piece and paper pieced over the stamped image. The grass, birds and sentiment are all from the Typography plate, I cut the sentiments apart on this plate so that I could use the other elements separately. To add a bit of pop to my cut out images/sentiment, I traced around them with a STAEDTLER Pigment Liner.
Details:
Stamps - Artistic Outpost Think and Wonder, Typography, Cowgirl Strength
Ink - Ranger Black Archival, Ranger Gathered Twigs Distress Ink
Card Stock - Vanilla, Rose, Black
Other - STAEDTLER Pigment Liner/Karat Aquarell Watercolor Pencils, Dimensionals, Ink Blending Tool, Acrylic Paints (Red/Pink/White), Gelli Arts Plate, The Crafters Workshop Stencil, Brayer, SAMJ
