Kitchen Sink Stamps - Concertina Book Tutorial

Happy Kitchen Sink Monday, I'm so glad you stopped by! Today, I'm sharing with you the Kitchen Sink Stamps Project of the Month (POM) a Stamped Concertina Book

  • Stamps – Kitchen Sink Stamps 3 Step Letters From the Past, 3 Step Butterflies
  • Ink – Stampin’ Up! Dusty Durango, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, Old Olive Marker, Ranger Black Archival, Sahara Sand
  • Card Stock – Stampin’ Up! Chocolate Chip, Dusty Durango, White
  • Other – Sponge Dauber, Eclipse Tape, Spritzer Tool, Punches or Spellbinders Dies and Big Shot, Scoring Tool, 2 pieces 13” Dusty Durango Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals

    Cut Dusty Durango Card stock to 5-3/4” x 2-7/8”, score at 2-7/8” – you’ll need 6 pieces
    Cut White Card Stock to 5-3/4” x 2-7/8”, score at 1-7/16”, 2-7/8”, and 4-5/16” – you’ll need 7 pieces

In the center of the white panels, use punches or Spellbinders Dies to cut an opening – see photo
NOTE: I drew in the score lines with a red pen to help you visualize this step better

Stamp white panels as desired. I used the Faux Collage Technique and stamped with the following images 3 Step Butterflies in #1 Dusty Durango stamped off, #2 Dusty Durango, #3 Black Archival. The other images are from 3 Step Letters from the Past; Script stamped in Sahara Sand, Air Mail in Rose Red, and Postage in More Mustard, Pen #3 Chocolate Chip, and #2 Close to Cocoa. The edges are lightly sponged with a sponge dauber and Chocolate Chip Ink. Using an Old Olive Marker and the Spritzer Tool, I added some splatters to fill in any white space.

Assemble your Dusty Durango panels – attach the 1
st panel to the second by over lapping, continue adhering all panels in this manner.

When finished crease with a bone folder, making sure your panels are square

Place one of the stamped panels on the 2
nd square as shown. You’ll be attaching the left and right sides to the Dusty Durango Panel as shown.

Continue with two more white panels

Flip your panel piece over – this time you are working on the first Dusty Durango Panel. Before you adhere your panel, place one end of one piece of ribbon in the center. Adhere white panels as in previous step. You’ll adhere all four, be sure when you get to the last one, you insert your ribbon as you did here.

Finished view of the front inside panels

Finish front as desired. The panel with the stamped butterfly is popped on dimensionals so that I can thread the ribbon to tie my Concertina Book closed.

Thank you for posting this directions. I especially like how lovely your collage came out - from the pictures, I thought it was a designer paper until I read the directions. You did, however, leave out the most important part - what are you putting in all those windows? There is a crease right in the middle of the image area...

This is what I love about stamping! You showcase making your own pattern paper perfectly (say that 3 times fast!). I too would love to see what you wind up putting in here.
