A Stitch in Time - Our Daily Bread Designs September Release

Welcome to the New Release post showcasing projects from Our Daily Bread Designs September Release!  You can see all of the September Releases here.  Continue reading below to find out how you can win one of three $15 Gift Certificates to the ODBD Store good towards the purchase of ODBD stamps.

Today, I'm sharing two cards with you using the Stitches, Sewing, ODBD Custom Doily Die and  ODBD Soulful Stitches Paper Collection from the September Release along with some additional ODBD Custom Dies.

My first card features Faux Iris Folding using the new ODBD Soulful Stitches Paper Collection.

Traditional Iris Folding has you folding your papers in thin strips, I simply die cut my shape using the ODBD Custom Ornate Hearts Die from Espresso card stock, embossing the panel, and working from the backside adhered strips of paper from the Soulful Stitches Paper Collection that were 1/2" wide to create my pattern. To finish my card, I die cut the two largest hearts from the Ornate Hearts Die from Vanilla card stock to create the trim panel, and adhered in place with glue dots.  To embellish my card, I added a die cut doily behind my ribbon embellishment using the ODBD Custom Doily Die.  The scissors are die cut from Espresso card stock using the ODBD Custom Apron and Tools Die, then applying Metallic Rub Ons for an aged look.  The sentiment is from the Stitches stamp set, stamped in Espresso on a Vanilla panel then die cut using the ODBD Custom Recipe Card and Tags Die.  The cute little "snaps" in the corner are cut using the smallest die from the ODBD Custom Doily Die, with a small pearl added to the center.

Details:
Stamps - Our Daily Bread Designs Stitches
Ink - Espresso, Ranger Gathered Twigs Distress Ink
Card Stock - Espresso, Vanilla, Moss
Other - ODBD Custom Ornate Hearts Die, ODBD Custom Apron and Tools Die, ODBD Custom Doily Die, ODBD Custom Recipe Card and Tags Dies, ODBD Custom Fancy Foliage Die, Soulful Stitches Paper Collection, Glue Dots, Dimenationals, Seam Binding, Buttons, Gems, Mini Rose, Stick Pin, Ink Blending Tool, Big Shot

I wanted a warm quilt like feel to my next card, and I was able to achieve that using the ODBD Custom Pennants Die (smallest pennant).

I die cut the pennant shapes from the Soulful Stitches Paper Collection, sponged the edges then adhered them to my card stock panel, and embossing just the pennant shapes.  The sentiment is from the Sewing stamp set, stamped in Espresso on Vanilla card stock, then die cut using the ODBD Custom Vintage Labels Die.  The stamped panel is adhered to an Espresso panel that was die cut using the ODBD Custom Antique Labels and Border Dies.  To embellish my card, I die cut the ODBD Custom Doily Die three times from Espresso card stock, stacking the dies for a scallop look, then added buttons, Zva Creative Crystal Gems and die cut scissors using the ODBD Custom Apron and Tools Die.

I LOVE coming to your blog, Lisa, because I always learn something new! Your heart card is gorgeous…love the paper piecing and the matting on this card! And on your second card, the embossed pennants are such a clever idea, and I have completely forgotten about that scissors die! Now I will need to get out my Gelli Plate and start playing with the doily die! Hugs!

What delightful cards. Love them both. The card layouts are wonderful as well as the color schemes you have chosen. The layers of the first card frame the heart perfectly and I love the bow cluster you created for the sentiment. I love the paper panels of the second card and the sewing tools and bow are so darling. Love the bling too. Well done.

Love your take on Iris Folding - I think I will give it a go - never did the real thing because it was too fiddly for me. Really like that second card too. You ladies have inspired me to do a lot of sewing/quilting cards for friends. Great ideas to work with!
