I like to give handmade gifts at Christmastime, and was lucky enough to score some photo coasters and frames on clearance last year. I've recycled them, by added stamped images instead of photos.
Supplies:
Stamps - North Coast Creations Santa Paws, Let it Snow
Ink - Versamark or Ranger Archival
Card Stock - Watercolor
Other - STAEDTLER Mars Graphic Markers/Karat Soft Pastels, Waterbrush, Heat Gun, Embossing Powder, Ink Blending Tool, Scallop Punch, Scrap Paper
Stamp and emboss your images on watercolor paper. Because my images are a little more detailed than standard line art images, I used the backside of the watercolor paper.
Outline the area you wish to color with STAEDTLER Mars Graphic Markers. I normally work in small sections.
Using the waterbrush, pull the color into the center by moving your waterbrush in a circular motion
Continue using this method of coloring until the area is completely colored. Make sure section is dry before moving on to the next color.
Continue with next color
Here's the finished colored image
Using a sponge dauber and the Karat Soft Pastels apply the Blue pastels to cover the remaining White space
Use as desired
Here's I've used the same technique on the snowman
For this piece, I wanted to add clouds to the background
To add the clouds, cut a scallop shape, place over image. Rub Karat Soft Pastels on Sponge dauber and sponge around scallop piece
Reposition the scallop piece as desired and continue sponging until area is covered
Use piece as desired
I applied the same technique to the snowman image in the frame
Thanks for stopping by!
