Grungy Monday on a Sunday

This last week Linda's Grungy Monday challenge was Exploring Tim Holtz Colorwash Sprays.....Let's just say I think I'm wearing more product on my hands than actually ended up on my project!  While I love the Colorwash Sprays, I knew there was a reason I don't use them that often.  Even with replacement nozzles in my spray bottles, they still clog (note these are the old style bottles), anyone have a sure fire solution for keeping the spray nozzle clean?

It took me four tries to create the look I was after, as those darn bottles kept clogging.....Still didn't end up with full coverage on one side, but I'm not wasting anymore Matte card stock, I'm calling it quits, if I don't my hands will be stained for a week!

The fab image is from The Outpost Plate by Artistic Outpost, one of my many favorite images.  It's stamped in Black Archival on Matte coated card stock.  To add the color I spritzed a piece of acetate with Colorwash Sprays and smooshed onto my stamped panel.  If you do this, it's best to leave your stamped panel a tad larger, as the inks pool at the edges, that way once try, you can cut off the ends that look all muddy.

Details:
Stamps - Artistic Outpost
Ink - Ranger Black Archival
Card Stock - Matte Coated, Black, Bermuda Bay
Other - Acetate, Heat Gun, Adirondack Colorwash - Stream, Butterscotch, Lettuce

What an awesome use of color sprays! The backgroundis stunning with those stamps! I could not play, because I had not one of those sprays and no local stores had any :-(

I had to smile Lisa as I had blue color wash all over my hands for days doing my piece LOL. It may have been a nightmare but well worth the effort, lovely piece. Tracy x

Such beautiful colors, Lisa! Lovely result! (I get so annoyed at the nozzles on those bottles! If it doesn't spray the first time, I unscrew it and run it under the faucet. I hate wasting that time!)

Wow, this is gorgeous! I love that stamp too! I don't own any TH sprays yet bur when my TA glimmer mists get cloggy I steal my sons can of compressed air he uses to clean the inside of the computers with. Works like a charm.

Lisa, it's so wonderful to see you! You always create such incredible (Spendiferous, for sure!) art, and this is a perfect example of your awesome talent. In spite of the sprayer issues, you rocked this, and the card is Gorgeous (with a capital "G")! The smooshing created a vibrant, breathtaking background, and the AI stamps, as always, are fab.

Have you tried the new bottles of Color Wash? I have some of the older ones, and wow, there's no comparison in the way they spray. The newer ones actually mist, where the older ones... yeah, they sort of blob on sometimes. :-)

I've read that if you store the mist sprayers on their sides and shake them only sideways (not up and down), it keeps them from blobbing quite so much. I've had good luck doing that. Takes up more room. I have a couple old racks from a stamping store that were used to hold pens/markers so they tip backwards - I put the bottle in with the color showing on the bottom so it's easy to reach for the right color. Stunning cards!
