Old Grist Mill

This is a late post for me today...where have I been?  Back in the studio working on this weeks Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, Week 2.  This weeks challenge is Fragment Basics, easy right?  Well, let's just say I have Fragments, and hardly every use them.  So I'm hoping to get lots of inspiration from this weeks challenge.  Not sure what I wanted to do with them I used it as a Tag on my card.

The beautiful image is from the Old Grist Mill plate by Artistic Outpost.  I used the Marker Watercoloring Technique for my coloring.  Notice the vibrant colors?  I'm using Marsgraphic Duo Watercolour markers by Staedtler.  I'm just loving how these blend with my Waterbrush.  The background panels are embossed with the Texture Fades folder.  To add some color to the fragment, I added alcohol inks to one side, let dry for a minute, then stamped the leaf image in Black Archival, let sit, then wiped away the ink.  This left a "faux bleach" look in the ink (the open spaces).  Stamped the sentiment in Black Archival, and adhered to a piece of White card stock.  The beautiful bow was created with some Seam Binding that I sprayed with Coral Glimmer Mist, I finished off my embellishment with a button from the Tim Holtz Accoutrement Line.

Details:

Ink - Black Archival, Markers (Staedler)

Other - Big Shot, Texture Fades Folder, Fragments, Seam Binding, Water Brush, Brads, Glimmer Mist, Alcohol Inks, Glossy Accents.

Lisa, it's gorgeous! That's a great use of the fragment, and I love the embossing on your card background. And can I just say, the rose-colored mill makes me happy? I love it.

Thanks for sharing your talent again this week!

Hi Lisa~

I love all of the details on this card. (Do all of your works go on cards? I hate to just assume.) The colors are spectacular...I am looking into the markers you used. I love how you could shift the colors. The background with the leaves is spectacular. I am curious about the different panels on the card. Are they all paper, or are they the actual wood strips people use on cards? I love the way the seam binding looks! Awesome card!
