SNR Card Universe Blog Hop and some Blog Candy!

Happy 4th of July! I'm so glad you could join the SNR Card Universe Blog Hop! If you came from Pamela's Blog you are on the right track! If you didn't you may want to hop over to SNR Card Universe and start at the beginning.

Grab a cup a coffee a comfy chair, sit back and relax, as there are 90+ Bloggers on the hop! I'm also giving away some Blog Candy, so be sure to keep reading for a chance to win!

To create my card, I used inspiration from Sketch #8 at Midnight Madness. The wonderful vintage image is from the She-roes Plate at Artistic Outpost. I used the Watercolor Distress Technique for the background, after my watercolor paper was dry, I stamped the image in Black Archival, and colored using Distress Inks and an Aquapainter. When done, the edges where sponged in Soft Suede. The Buckaroo Blue panel was run through the Big Shot using the Distress Stripes Cuttlebug Folder. The DSP behind my images is from The Paper Loft, cut with Circle Nestabilities, layered on a piece of Buckaroo Blue and a Cranberry Crisp Scallop.
Details:
Stamps - Artistic Outpost - She-roes
Ink - Black Archival, Distress Inks, Soft Suede
Card Stock - Black, Watercolor, Buckaroo Blue, Cranberry Crisp
Other - Nestabilities, CuttleBug Distressed Striped Folder, Big Shot, Corner Punch, Mat Pack, Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber, Craft Mat, Large & Small Star Punch

So, you wanna know what I'm giving away as Blog Candy? If you're the lucky winner - you'll get to pick any* Plate from Artistic Outpost (*$12 Value). How cool is that! How can you enter? Another great She-roes card Lisa! Ever since I started supporting the Vietnam Nurses memorial decades ago I've been aware of the lack of honor our She-roes receive. Although even as a little girl living in Washington DC area I used to ask my Mom how come only men get statues when so many women were also involved. I asked a Senator that once and he said Betsy Ross was immortalized everytime someone looked at a flag...Hmmmm sounds like a politician don't you think? You really don't want to know what he said when I asked about the WASPS in WWII! So many women have been on battlefields, set records of all sorts and been She-roes. It's wonderful that you feature this set so often and that stamp companies like Artistic Outpost are presenting us with such unusual collections. Having said all that I do have to admit that I'm most torn between the sets Bluebird and Serenity. Geek is Chic and Home are also terrific.

Thanks for sharing the creativity and the candy. Always fun to see what you are up to on your blog.

Hugs and blessings - Jean Fitch

Lisa, you have such wonderful ideas that get transformed into your artwork. I used the Heroes and She-roes stamps for my cards this year. I too do not think the She-roes have been honored as they should be, and perhaps this set will only be the beginning of the recognition they should receive. Thanks to you and Artistic Outpost for your contributions to this much needed oversight. I think my next set from OP will be Bluebird. I also love Serenity that I had to have as soon as it became available.

Blessings on this 4th of July!
