TJ Blogstravganza - Peppermint Bark

Like most of you, I always have those last minute, what do you give gifts...I decided this year to make a bunch of Peppermint Bark. The hinged tins that I purchased here are great for this quick project!

I stamped snowflakes from my Snow Burst set in White Stazon on the lid. I stamped my snowflakes on my Red card stock using the Faux Dry Emboss Technique, layered this panel on a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock, then created my belly band (Chocolate card stock 2-1/4" x 11", Red card stock 2" x 11", score at 2-7/8", 3-3/4", 7-3/8" and 8-5/16"). I secured this in place with some Sticky Strip.

I used my JustRite Baking Ensemble and Harmony Classic Circle II along with my Circle Nesties to create my tag. For the inner circle, I used my Red and Chocolate markers to add color to the image, stamped on White card stock, then cut with my nesties. I layered this onto the cut circle that I had stamped in Chocolate, then onto my Red and Chocolate circles.

Peppermint Bark
1 package of melted Almond Bark
1 package smashed candy canes (about 12)

Mix together. Spread out on a piece of wax paper, let cool. Once cool, break into small pieces.

Details:
Stamps - JustRite Baking Ensemble, Harmony Classic Circle II, Stampin' Up! Snow Burst
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Markers, White, White Stazon
Card Stock - Red, Chocolate Chip, White
Other - Circle Nesties, Tins

Looks great!!! I LOVE peppermint bark and it's fairly expensive when you buy it so making it is a great option. If you are looking for a new way to use the bark try it in place of chocolate chips in a chocolate chip cookie recipe. Check out the one on my blog: http://hiphostess.wordpress.com/2008/12/23/peppermint-bark-chocolate-chip-cookies/

Thanks for the post!

Great idea, Lisa! Now I know what to do with those leftover candy canes! Everyone loves them early in December, but now, not so much!
