TJ Blogstravganza - EZ Gift Card Holder Tutorial

Since I still had my card stock and stamps from yesterday's Bloggers Challenge on my desk, I reached for them first when creating my gift card holder.

This gift card holder uses the Triple Dimension Technique for the snowflakes, my snowman is from Holiday Lineup, just colored with my inkpads and aquapainter, then punched with the Tag Punch, layered with the larger Tag Punch, then tied onto my bow using a small piece of hemp.

I then recreated the gift card holder using DSP, Card Stock and my JustRite Harmony Classic Oval II Stamp Ensemble.

To create your gift card holder, you'll need:
  • A piece of card stock:
Cut and score your card stock according to my template

8-15/16" x 6"
Score at 3/8" x 3/4" on each side
Score 3-1/4", 3-5/8", 6-7/8", 7-1/4"
  • Red Line Tape
  • DSP/Card Stock of your choice
  • about 23" of ribbon
  • Hammer/Eyelet Setter - or long reach hole punch

Once scored and cut - it should look like this photo. Decorate the outside panels with stamped card stock or DSP at this time, it's much easier to do while your card stock is still flat.

Using your Eyelet Setter/Hammer or Long Reach Hole Punch, Punch two holes as shown in the center of the middle panel. This is where you will thread your ribbon, to be able to tie around your box.
Thread your ribbon through the holes, and place your Red Line tape on the flaps as shown. Fold up the bottom flap and secure.
Insert your gift card, tie your bow and add your tag.
To create the Tag for my Believe Gift Card Holder Box - I cut my white card stock to 1-3/16" stamped "Believe" from my JustRite Classic Oval II Harmony Stamp Ensemble in Riding Hood Red, and placed into my small Tag Punch as shown, so that I could cut just the top edge. I repeated this with my Blue Baja Card Stock and Large Tag Punch (cutting my card stock the width of the tag punch). Edged my white card stock with Baja Breeze ink, then layered it onto my Baja Breeze card stock, punch a hole with my 1/16" hole punch, tied on my hemp and attached it to my Bashful Blue Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon.

Thanks for this gift card holder-- I used the basic design today although I needed to make it wider. But it turned out great! I will have to make sure I bookmark this particular tutorial.
