Layering Card Stock

I received an email yesterday from Peggy, asking me if I’d share how I layer my cards. I’m a layer gal – and here’s the method to my madness….

When cutting card stock for my stamped images – I measure my wood block so I know what size to cut the card stock I want to stamp on. To save you time later on, a good idea is to write those dimensions on your wood block so that you don’t have to re-measure each time you use that stamp. To add layers behind my focal image I add 1/8” to the size I cut for my stamped image. For example on this card – my stamped sentiment layer is 2” x 1”; my black layer is cut at 2 1/8” x 1 1/8”.

As for layering the bases of my card stock, if I’m dong a card with 3 layers - note this does not include my base card as a layer. See an example here – my stamped layer (3rd layer in) is 5” x 3 ¾”, my next layer would be 5 1/8” x 3 5/8” (I typically use black as this layer of card stock, or a dark color that coordinates with the colors of my image). By keeping this layer dark, it helps the focal image of my card “pop”. The 3rd layer of my card is 5 ¼” x 4”, then layered on my base card 5 ½” x 4 ¼”.
