More Bridal Ideas

The bride-to-be wanted some samples of cards, so she'd be able to write a note to her bridesmaids - here's what I came up with

Again I used the Textile Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and Su's Wild Rose set

Godspeed Cards - Winner

I used the random number picker to pick my winner - and the winner is....

Shari Schulz, she said -

Wow, very cool cards. Gary's nephew is serving. And yes, a big Thank You to all the service men and women that are fighting for our freedom. And to all who support our troops in any way that they can. God Bless

So Shari, please email me with your snail mail and I'll get these off to you.

For the Bridesmaids

I've been working on some Bridesmaid ideas for one of my customers....

The template for this cute little purse comes from my friend Leigh O'Brien - you can find the template in the Fan Club Forum on SCS

Here's a cute piece of wedding cake - using SU's Wild Rose stamp set (I only made one piece of cake - although there are different sizes you can make and they'll all stack on top of each other to create a faux wedding cake)

I used my Cuttlebug Textile Embossing Folder on both of these items - then added a touch of celery ink with my sponge daubers.

Flip Book Album

I was recently sent this Flip Book Pattern, and made the base for my book, but it had been sitting here unfinshed, until I was inspired by my friend Rose to finish mine. I used the Au Chocolat DS paper in the Spring Mini, along with the following cardstock - Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery, and Creamy Caramel. The Scrap Map Layouts can be found here.

Godspeed

These cards use the Triple Mosaic Technique from the TJNL.

Happy Memorial Day!

Today we honor the military - past and present - what better set to use then SU's retired set Godspeed. To all those who are serving or have served our country - THANK YOU!

If you'd like a chance to give these cards to someone you know in the military - leave a message on this post by Wednesday May 30, I'll randomly pick a winner on May 31, and send these out to you.

Cling and Scrunch - A Different Point of View

Just recently I earned some free rubber from SU - Noble Deer was one of the sets I decided to get. I've always liked this set, and wanted to get something that wasn't on the retired list so I could continue to demo it.

Cling and Scrunch is a technique in the June TJNL - I played around with this technique last summer, and was glad to see it appear in a newsletter.

The newsletter shows different mediums you can use with this technique - one of the mediums you can use are Color Wash Sprays, now if you don't have color wash sprays - you can make them yourself, it's pretty easy. Grab yourself a mister bottle, fill it with water and add about 10 drops of SU reinker and shake. (Note the home version of sprays is not as rich as the premade stuff)

This card uses Color Wash Sprays for my Cling and Scrunch technique and follows SCS Sketch Challenge 124. I purchased my Color Wash Sprays from Innovative Stamp Creations

And because I love to morph the TJNL Techniques - I decided to try some different mediums with the Cling and Scrunch Technique - here I used Ranger Acrylic Daubers

And on this card I used my Radiant Rain Mists by LuminArte

For the love of Barns

This card uses the Milk Paint Technique from the TJNL - this is one of the FREE TJNL Techniques - be sure to check it out!

I just recently got these great barn images from Impression Obsession. I've always loved the look of barns - one of the reasons we bought the property we built our house on was because there is an old barn on the lot behind us.

Precious Moments - Clock Overlay

Here's the other Heidi Swapp Clock Overlay that I got from Innovative Stamp Creations. I just love the sentiment on this one - the picture I choose goes so well with it. This picture was taken of my boys a few months after my Joey (now 11) was born - they were so in awe of each other at that age.

I used SU's Treehouse DS paper - and added the criss cross scratch stamp from this sheet by Innovative Stamp Creations, to give the DS paper some depth.

Time Flies....Clock Overlays

As you can tell by the pictures of my boys....time sure does fly.

The photo on the left is Jim at age 3, the photo on the right is Joey at age 3 - with their "first catch". The photo on the bottom was taken this past September - Jim 12, Joey 11.

I just recently got these cool Heidi Swapp Clock Overlays from Betsy at Innovative Stamp Creations - these overlays fit perfectly into a clock, or can be used on 12x12 layouts. These overlays would make an awesome Father's Day Gift! I've got another one to share with you tomorrow.

News Flash - Price Increase

With the release of Stampin' Up!s Fall/Winter Collection, you will notice about a 5% increase in product prices.

Why are prices increasing? The costs of all materials (rubber, paper, and wood, for instance), production (making the products), and delivery (transporting the products to our warehouse) have been continually increasing for some time. Up to now, Stampin' Up! has absorbed most of these rising costs.

What a great reason to place your order NOW for items on your wish list, before the new prices go into effect.

Expressions Alter-It Stamps

Innovative Stamp Creations came out with a brand new sheet called Expressions Alter-It. This sheet is perfect for making these altered jumbo paper clips. (click image to enlarge)

I used the Faux Chipboard technique from the Technique Junkies Newsletter on the larger flower stamp. On the center two clips I also used my cuttlebug flower die cut. The fancy brad embellishments also came from ISC, as well as the Heidi Swapp ribbon.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! I sure hope you are all being pampered on your special day. My boys made me breakfast in bed, what a treat! Then when I came into the kitchen I had a dozen red roses waiting for me! What a great start to my day! Here's a picture of my wonderful boys...

And here's a card for all of you - my beloved Stipple Rose is retired - but I can't bare to get rid of it. Here I embossed my image in black on Pale Plum card stock - then colored it using my Radiant Rain Mists by LuminArte. The cool fancy fold idea comes from Debbie's blog.

Here's to you Mom - Happy Mother's Day!

A MOTHER'S LOVE
A Mother's love is something that no on can explain,It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain,It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may For nothing can destroy it or take that love away . . .It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking,And it never fails or falter seven though the heart is breaking . . .It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns,And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems . . .It is far beyond defining,it defies all explanation,And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation . . .A many splendoured miracle man cannot understand And another wondrous evidence of God's tender guiding hand.

Card Fronts for the Troops

Thinking about what to do with all those card fronts? Donate them! Here is a great effort led by one of my team members, Kate Lougee:

"My brother in law is in a chief in the Navy and is getting deployed on the USS Kearsage leaving in July. I am trying to get a large group of all occasion cards for him to take with him for the men and women on the ship to send back home to their family for all the events they will miss while they are deployed.I know lots of people have swaps and other sample cards and card fronts that wonder how to get good use out of them once the set is retired, this is the perfect opportunity!!!I will make them into full cards and send along envelopes; all I need are some card fronts to stick on them! I would really appreciate your help in getting a note out to the team to see if they could help me out. There are over 3100 people on that ship so hopefully a good number will get a smile on their face from our efforts to have cards for them.

If you are interested helping out - mail your card fronts to Kate by July 14:
