Boo to You!

It's time for another challenge at the Challenge by AR Blog, your hostess for this challenge is Lisa E., and she is challenging you to use any template and create something with a Fall or Halloween Theme.  This two week challenge is being sponsored by MyGraphico.

I created two Halloween Projects using templates from Creations by AR.  This first project features the Single Test Tube Holder.  I can't thank Adela enough for turning my pattern into a Cut File and PDC, it sure makes creating these with the eCraft a breeze!  The Tag and Papers are from the Spooktacular Collection at MyGraphico, printed on White card stock, then sponged with Gathered Twig Distress Ink.

For this particular holder, I used an already filled Test Tube found in the Wilton Baking Section at Michaels.  For other Test Tube projects I've created, I've used the EK Success Brand ones.

This next Halloween project features the Hanging Basket Template, this template with cut from pattern paper using the eCraft.  For the handle, I stretched out a piece of Bind It All Wire, added Eyelets to the side of the basket and secured the wire in place.

I created a Rosette from a 1-1/2" x 10-1/4" piece of pattern paper, scoring every 1/4" with the Scor-Pal, added the image from the Artistic Outpost Halloween Treats plate along with some Black Tulle.  I added a little Witches Hat Charm that I created with the eCraft to the Black Hemp.

No Tricks...Just Treats and Some Exciting News

I'm super excited to share with you that my Single Place Test Tube Holder is the feature this week in the SCS Weekly Inkling and can be found in the SCS Resources.  I started creating these fun little test tube holders back in 2008, when JustRite Stampers was running a contest.  I bought them on a whim at Michaels, thinking I'd be able to come up with some type of container to put them in.  The larger/longer test tubes on the left are made by EK Success and can be found in the Martha Stewart Halloween section, if you're lucky enough to find some at your store, you can always pick up some extra sets and send them my way for future projects!  The smaller/shorter test tubes on the right are from Eclectic Paperie.

These Test Tube holders are great for other holidays or birthdays and fun to fill with small trinkets, bath salts or baking sprinkles.  The ideas are endless!  Additional directions for holders can be found on my sidebar as google documents.

Valentine Test Tube Treat Holder

Looking for something quick and easy to create for Valentine's?  I created this pattern in 2008, for use with Test Tubes.  I had found some that year at my local Michaels store with the Martha Stewart stuff and thought they'd be fun to alter.  I originally started out with a box that could hold four Test Tubes, then came up with a few other patterns for a Single Test Tube and a Double Test Tube. 

For the Valentine Holder, I used the beautiful Sugar Rush paper from Basic Grey, layering in on a piece of Dusty Durango, then onto my template.  The cute stamps are from the JustRite Tiny Words Set.  The xoxoxxo was stamped in Barn Red Distress Ink, punched out and layered on a Red circle.  For the sentiment, I actually trimmed off the "love and flower" from the original center, inked it with markers, then stamped on White, punched out, layerd on a Dustry Durango circle, then onto my xoxoxo stamped circle.  I attached a piece of Red Grosgrain to the Test Tube, then attached the stamped circle with a dimensional.

Easter Test Tube Treat Holder

Yes, I have an addition to these dang Test Tubes!  I still have a small stock pile of them left, so I thought I'd put them to use with one of my Test Tube Patterns (found on my sidebar) to create a cute Easter Treat Holder using the Heartfelt Creations Egg-Citing Day set.

The images are stamped in Black Archival on Watercolor paper, then colored using the Marker Watercoloring technique.  To fill in the open space above the bear, I added some clouds by sponging Blue ink over a scrap scallop piece of card stock.

Holiday Spirit - RCC75

Welcome to another challenge from the Ribbon Carousel Blog! Thanks to those who played along with last months challenge, the theme at the Ribbon Carousel Blog for the month of December is The Holidays.

I like to have little gifts on hand for the Postal Carrier, UPS Driver and those unexpected gifts I might need, so I used this months Ribbon Carousel Challenge Theme to create packaging for some Chocolate Covered Pretzels.

A few years ago, I had designed some Test Tube Boxes, that were all cut by hand.  After getting a die cutting machine last year, I asked my friend Adela if she could turn my template into a cut file.  My Double Test Tube Holder was the inspiration for my project.  Not wanting to go back to cutting the template by hand, I altered the Cut File Adela made from my pattern, welding two of the single holders together, then removed the Circles and the flap portion that housed the test tubes.  This is what the pattern looked like before being decorated.

I used pattern paper from the Bo Bunny Rejoice line to embellish my box.  The Mixing Bowl and sentiment on the bottom portion of the box are from Our Daily Bread Designs Baking Tag Set.  The image is colored with STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell Watercolor and EgroSoft Colored Pencils.  The stamped image is trimmed so a small portion is slightly "out of the box".  The sentiment on the bag is from Our Daily Bread Designs Christmas Door set.  The bag is tied with Walnut Brown Vintage Seam Binding and embellished with a button tied with Natural Jute.

Halloween Treats Test Tube Holder

Happy Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday, thanks for stopping by!  With Halloween in a few weeks, I decided it was time to create one of my ever popular Test Tube Treat Holders.  Last year I asked my friend Adela if she could take my Single Test Tube Holder Pattern and make it into a SVG File for use with a Cutting Machine to speed up the process of creating them.  You can find the SVG file she created for me here, along with a PDF.  To create the Double Holder shown below, I simply merged two of the Single Boxes Together, then cut using the Silhouette Cameo.

The Pumpkin is stamped on White Card stock, to embellish the box I added some pattern paper from the Echo Park Chillingsworth Manor Collection, and Black Vintage Seam Binding tied into a Double Bow.

JustRite Blog Hop Halloween Treat Ideas

I'm so glad you could stop by for the JustRite Design Team Blog Hop! I'm thrilled to be showing you some of the things you can do with the new Witch Way to the Treats Set from JustRite. This cute set has 10 Borders and Centers perfect for adding to your Halloween packages. These images fit the JustRite 1-3/16" Wood Stamper. This JustRite set will be released on July 22nd, this is a LIMITED EDITION set, once it's gone, it's gone forever!

For my projects, I used the JustRite Witch Way to the Treats to create some adorable treat holders. The small test tube holder box was created using the Box #2 Die Cut from Stampin' Up! I used the 3/4" Circle Punch to punch even spaced holes in the lid, added an Eggplant Trim (3/4" Circle cut out of a 1" Circle). I applied the Spooky Treats Rub on to the Cast-a-Spell DSP and added Faux Brads with the Double Circle Punch.


For my tag, I stamped the Trick or Treat Centers image from the JustRite Witch Way to the Treats on a piece of Cast-a-Spell DSP, cut with Spellbinders Circle Dies. The Border image is stamped on a piece of Eggplant card stock. I tied a Black Grosgrain around the Pug-Tastic Tube and adhered my tag using a dimensional.





This box is the Matchbox Die from Stampin' Up! I used the die to cut Black card stock and the Cast-a-Spell DSP for the wrap around the box. For the nuggets, I cut 1" x 3" pieces of DSP and wrapped them snuggly around the nuggets. To create the tag, I used the Pumpkin Center from Witch Way to the Treats, stamping in Black Archival on Watercolor paper, and coloring using the Marker Watercoloring Technique. These layers were cut with a combination of Spellbinders Dies and Stampin' Up! punches. The pumpkin center was attached to the tag with a dimensional.


The Large Test Tube is from Martha Stewart, I picked these up last fall at Michael's. I used my Single Test Tube Holder Pattern to create the box from Black card stock. I cut the Cast-a-Spell DSP for my panels, and added the Treats from the Spooky Treats Rub on across the bottom. For the tag, I stamped the Skull Center from Witch Way to the Treats in Black Archival on Watercolor paper, colored using the Marker Watercoloring Technique and cut with Spellbinders Circle Dies. The other layers were cut with 1", 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" Circle Punches from Stampin' Up!. On the Olive layer I stamped the border in Black. After tying the Black Grosgrain, I adhered my tag using dimensionals.


This small bag is the new Fancy Favor Die from Stampin' Up!, cut from the Cast-a-Spell DSP. After cutting the die, I cut the center away using the Big Shot and the Lots of Tags Sizzlits from Stampin' Up! I cut 1" x 3" pieces of Cast-a-Spell DSP and stamped some of the Witch Way to the Treats images in Black Archival, wrapped them around the nuggets, and placed them into a Small Cello Bag. I used the Double Circle Punch, to punch holes in the bag and tied the Black Grosgrain using a No Tie Bow.

More Test Tube Holders

Recently I purchased some smaller Test Tubes from The Rubber Cafe - these measure 3/4" vs. the 1" diameter ones I was using. For the larger one - I used the Single Test Tube Holder Pattern, for the smaller one (which uses the smaller test tube), I used my scaled down version - but altered it to make the back higher. You can see that I basically kept the same design as in my scaled down version - just changing up a few colors. I also decided to use the omitting technique - as I didn't want the heart in the center - instead I punched it with my Heart Punch, then adhered with a dimensional. ***Stamps, Heart Punch and Candy Lane DSP are all from the Love You Much Bundle.

Happy Bloggers Challenge Friday!  Guess I've been listening to a little too much Toby Keith, with all these cowboy/cowgirl projects!  I'm playing a little catch up this week with a few challenges so I decided to theme my post so that I could put them all in together.  As always, Friday's on my blog are for the Bloggers Challenge - this weeks is one of my favorites - Reuse/Recycle.  A pretty wide open theme, you can Alter Something, Reuse Something from a previous project, Recycle something (perhaps it's something someone "gifted" you -- you get the idea.  All of my projects fit into the Reuse/Recycle Theme, and a few fit some other challenges, noted below the projects. 

All stamps used on my projects are from two of Kitchen Sink Stamps latest releases: Multi Step Cowboy Hat and Multi Step Cowboy Boots.

What did I recycle here? The Twill is actually a piece that was on a Ribbon Sampler I had, it just happened to be the right length.  The Metal piece, is a Christmas Ornament (found at Hobby Lobby).

Bloggers Challenge - Boo to You!

Happy Bloggers Challenge Friday!  Are you ready for Trick or Treaters?  Lucky for me, no one in my house has found the Halloween Candy YET! I think they know every hiding space by now, so I didn't even bother to hide it this year.

It sure felt more like a burst of Winter here yesterday, I think my muse must have froze, as I tried quite a few projects, before turning to my Single Test Tube Holder Template...YES, I took the easy way out!  Good thing my friend Sue is coming for a Creative Play Date today!

Sue had given me some fun Memory Box Halloween papers, here I just added some image from the Artistic Outpost Haunted Halloween plate, then added the paper to My Test Tube Holder.  Then added some Tim Holtz Tissue Tape and Black Grosgrain to the Test Tube.  Super Easy!

The project also fit the Simon Says Stamp and Show Something Spooky

Test Tube Holder Box using the Bigz Die Box #2

If you've stopped by my blog in the last few months, you know I've been posting various Test Tube Holder Boxes that I created patterns for, well today I had an idea and thought I'd give it a whirl. I just received the Bigz Box #2 Die Cut from the Spring Summer Catalog, and as I was putting my box together, I wondered what I could put inside, since the box was rather small. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks! The Pug-tastic Small Round Tubes would fit perfectly in these boxes - with the die cut box, these Test Tube Holders are easy peasy!

To create the openings on the top flap of my box, I simply cut a post-it note the size of my flap, folded it to get my center lines, then inserted my 3/4" circle punch in the center, punched that hole, then moved to the sides and punched each side hole. Tucked my flap back into the box, filled my Tubes with Sour Jolly Ranchers (that's all I had in the house). Then finished decorating the panel using the hearts from Love You Much and Triple Dimension Technique.

New Arrivals from Artistic Outpost

I'm excited to be sharing some of my creations using the newest releases from Artistic Outpost!  From Tonic to Halloween to Frosty and Friends, there's a little bit of something for everyone with this release!  These new collections are available in both unmounted rubber sheets as well as *mounted/pre-trimmed on EZMount cling foam. 

Apothecary: Before the invention of the drive-thru Walgreens®, the apothecary was not just a dispenser of medicines, but also a mix-ologist of tonics, keeper of secrets, and giver of advice. (Projects using this set will be posted soon here on my blog)

Halloween Treats:  This set is wonderful for creating Halloween Treats, or perfect to mix with other Artistic Outpost Halloween collections as well as the new Apothecary plate!

I used some of the images from the Halloween Treats plate to create a Test Tube Treat Holder. The images are stamped in Black on Vanilla Card stock, to add color to the Vanilla panels I used the Watercolor Distress Technique, using Rangers Distress Stains, then added a bit of color to the images.  For the Labels, I stamped the images on Vinyl using Ranger Black Archival Ink, heat set, then added Distress Stain and heated again.  Cut out and apply to Test Tubes. (Test Tube Patterns available on my sidebar)

Frosty & Friends: This collection features images from Artistic Outpost's own collection of vintage ephemera.

For this project I stamped the image using Ranger Black Archival on an Ornament Blank (from Hobby Lobby), heat set, then painted with Creative Inspirations Paints.  Once dry, I sponged on Ranger Walnut Stain Distress Ink and added Gold Krylon Marker to the edges.

Artistic Outpost Releases Neverland and Haunted Halloween!

I'm excited to share with you the newest stamp collections from Artistic Outpost, Neverland and Haunted Halloween.    These new plates are available Mounted and Unmounted.  Not only are there new releases at Artistic Outpost, but also a new section to shop from called Outpost Attic Findings which feature some truly vintage style finding kits that include beautiful ribbons and trims, for more on these wonderful kits, click here.

I feel in love with Robyn's version of Tinkerbell on the Neverland Plate.  Here, I did some creative masking to put Tinkerbell in the center of the Flower Collage, stamping both in Black Archival, then adding colors using the Marker Watercoloring Technique.

The Artistic Outpost Neverland plate features images from the fairytale land that is home to Peter Pan.  The Darling children are also featured with a lovely ATC sized collage of Wendy and a perfect flying illustration of John and Michael.

Now onto a fun Halloween Creation!

For my Haunted Halloween creation, I altered one of my Test Tube Holder Patterns.  I created the Patterns for the Test Tube Holders a few years ago, and thought I'd update the 4 place holder a bit, by adding a 2" portion behind the Test Tubes.  The Haunted House and Bats from this plate are stamped on a piece of Basic Grey Paper, then adhered to the Black Panel, then the Orange Box I created.  I added some Ribbons and charm to decorate the box a bit.  The labels came with the Test Tubes (Martha Stewart purchased a few years back), I stamped various images from this set in Versamark, and Black embossed using Ultra Fine Black EP.

Artistic Outpost's Haunted Halloween is a Victorian inspired collection with vintage witch illustration a cane-swinging dapper skeleton, and a haunted home that could be used without the scary subtext. Other collage images include a bat border collage and sentiments.
