Nugget Tins

Today's gift idea is the cute and ever popular Nugget Tin. You can get your tins at Specialty Bottle. To decorate the nuggets, I took my 12" x 12" Dashing DSP, and cut a strip 3" x 12", then cut it into 1" strips. I adhered Dashing DSP around the bottom of the tin, and red grosgrain around the top. Here's a close up of the ornament.

Bloggers Challenge

This weeks Bloggers Challenge was to make something that was movable - such as a slider, shaker or something along those lines. I thought I would tie my last minute gifts into this challenge - so here's my Snow Frame Shaker....

The Snowman was masked so the trees could be stamped. To make the shaker, I cut the width of my foam tape about 1/8" and adhered it to my glass, then added the micro beads. Gently removed the protective backing (or your beads will fly everywhere), then adhere your stamped image. Now you have a cute little Snow Frame, all ready for your gift giving!

Details:

Stamps - It's Snow Time, Warm Words
Ink - Black Stazon, Markers, Ruby Red
Card Stock - Confetti White
Other - Foam Tape, Micro beads, Frame, Eclipse Masking Tape

Christmas Cards

I had some leftover paper cut from my Christmas Card Classes, and was putting it to good use making my Christmas cards to send out to Family, Friends and Customers. So, if you're on my Christmas Card list....You might just be getting one of these cards....

The "warm wishes" card is the same photo I used in yesterday's post of a picture I took from my back yard. But this time I printed the photo in color.

The next two cards feature Thomas Kinkade stamps by Cornish Heritage Farms.

On both cards, I stamped my image in Black Archival Ink, then added a little bit of color with markers. I also added a bit of 2-way glue and DD glitter for a bit of "bling".

Folded Tree Box/Bag Holder

Here's a great box/bag holder perfect for your Christmas gift giving. You can find the directions here. I changed the punch on mine - I used the large oval punch for my handle, and the Tag Corner Punch instead of the corner rounder.

The Christmas Tree is made by folding the Dashing Designer Series Paper as follows:

Folded Tree Directions

  • You'll need 4 pieces of DSP cut 1 of each size 3"x 3", 2 1/2" x 2 1/2", 2" x 2" and 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"

Fold them all as follows

  • Fold in 1/2 open up
  • fold diagonal open
  • fold diagonal other way open up
  • lay flat - now fold in the sides so you have what looks like a triangle
  • fold left and right sides of the triangle in towards the middle
  • repeat with other pieces
  • stack on top of each other to form the tree
I used the Star Punch for the star and the 3/4" square for my tree trunk. I used the Double Vanilla Technique from the TJNL along with my Snow Burst set for the background, and added some glitter bling to my snowflakes. To balance out the bling - I added some to the handle and on my sentiment to resemble brads.

Don't forget the Designer Series Paper is on special this month - Buy 3 get 1 FREE! The Snow Burst set can only be ordered through November 30, email me today to place your order!

Here's a close up of the tree. Here's another card I made using the folded tree directions.

Bloggers Challenge Friday

This weeks Bloggers Challenge was to use a magazine or photo as a focal point in your project. The October '07 issue of the TJNL seemed like a great starting point for this challenge - as fellow Turbo Team Member Gerrie had suggested the Scrunchie Technique to Pat a few months ago. Gerrie had sent me a sample of the technique, so I decided to put her sample to use in today's challenge. The piece she sent me was copper - so I morphed her scrunchie sample by adding brown embossing powder so it would work with my image. Yes, the scrunchie technique actually uses a magazine.

Speaking of image....I wanted to use the other cowboy image from this set - but he must have galloped off, as I couldn't find it....

Card Details:
Stamps – Singing Cowboy –
Artistic Outpost
Ink – Versamark, Chocolate Chip
Card Stock – Blue Bayou, Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
Other – Brown Embossing Powder, Sizzix Hombre Texture Pad, Magazine, Gesso, Sponge Dauber, Dimensionals

Bloggers Challenge using a Photograph

I joined a Christmas Card swap hosted by my friend Robin, after this years Stampin' Up! convention - in that swap I had received a great swap card from Maggie Pinque - she had left a space for her photo and had a small card tied with ribbon on the front for you to put your holiday message. Maggie's finished piece was made to fit into a business sized envelope. I used Maggie's swap card as my inspiration for this finished card.

This finished piece measures 6 5/8" x 3 1/4" and is made fit into SU's Small Open End Envelopes. Stamped image was colored with markers then stamped on white card stock. Some images were accented with DD Glitter.

Card Details:
Stamp -
Season of Joy
Card Stock - Vanilla, Ruby Red, Artichoke, Dashing DSP
Other - Markers, DD Glitter, 2 Way Glue Pen, Artichoke Grosgrain

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great weekend ~Lisa

Snow Burst Gift Set

Looking for a quick and easy idea for Christmas Gift Giving? Grab your Snow Burst stamp set, two shades of blue ink and some blue and white card stock! You'll also need, the round tab punch, sticky strip, and (2) 10" pieces of coordinating grosgrain. The tote featured below is the same tote that I posted here on my blog back in April, I just changed out my colors and stamps for the season. The tote holds (4) 3" x 3" cards with envelopes. I also added a bit of "bling" (glitter adhesive) to my round tab punch.

The note cube is from Oriental Trading. I picked up the RSVP Pens at Office Depot - these are great, just some simple stamping on a piece of copy paper (3 1/2" x 1") unscrew your cap, roll your decorated paper around the barrel, and pop back in to the pen. Now you've got a coordinated pen to match your project!

Don't have the Snow Burst stamp set? Email me today to order yours - this set is only available through then end of November!

Iris Folding

He's Back!!! Yep, I'm bringing back that cute little Santa from Jolliest Time of the Year for some Iris Folding fun!

To create the opening in my card stock - I used the 1 3/8" square punch, and overlapped my punches - here's a peek at what it looked like when I was almost done punching

I did the same thing to create the red square window accent, just trimmed down my window so the border is only 1/8" all the way around.

I used the pattern found here for my Iris Folding. Now, I know what your thinking - that pattern is in the shape of a circle - so I just rotated my card stock until I got my square centered around the middle of the iris, and only added a few pieces of paper for the iris folding.

If you were wondering - the Santa does not show through to the inside of the card - he's stamped directly onto the vanilla layer that is sandwiched in between the artichoke and red base card.

Bloggers Challenge - Inspired By

For this weeks Bloggers Challenge - our theme was Inspired By.

Who or what inspires you to create? For this challenge I went with the WHO inspired me..I was inspired by Sheryl who posted a link to this tutorial for a gift card holder.

I decided to alter the dimensions from the tutorial to suit my needs, because I wanted my gift card to fit into SU's Mini Envelopes.

Here's an open view - as you can tell by looking at my open view - I also eliminated some of the card stock from the original tutorial, thus getting rid of that center pocket.

Details for Snowflake Gift Card Holder:
Stamps: Snow Jumbo Wheel, Snow Burst, Warm Words, Jolliest Time of the Year, Snow Flurries
Card Stock - Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla, Brushed Gold
Ink - Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate, Black

Bloggers Challenge #16 - Ornaments

This weeks challenge was to make an ornament....Well I just couldn't make one, so I'm sharing a few different ideas with you. At the bottom of my post you'll find a few links to other ornaments that I've posted in the past on my blog. I hope this gives you some creative ideas for your Christmas Ornaments. You can purchase the tin for this ornament here

Stamps - Hugs & Wishes, Tags for All
Card Stock - Vanilla
Ink - Black, Real Red, Bordering Blue

This ornament uses a 6" x 12" piece of Dashing DSP, that was cut into 6" x 1/2" pieces, then rolled and dropped into the glass ball. I added some vellum confetti as faux snow, and tied on Wild Wasabi Double Stitched Ribbon

For this next ornament, I used the same type of glass ball shown above, and added some Ranger Alcohol Inks, and Metallic Mixatives to resemble the Polished Stone Technique. I added some Silver Elastic Cording to hang the ornament.

Altered Slide Mailers

(click photos to enlarge)

Since slide mailers are made out of chipboard, they’re super easy to cover using SU’s glue stick and DSP. For this particular slide mailer – I covered the front, back and inside cover with Dashing DSP. I used my old olive ink pad DTP method on the right side.

Stamp Santa image from Jolliest Time of the Year in black stazon, and color with watercolor crayons. Sponge edges with red ink, layer onto red, olive then vanilla card stock, adhere to cover with dimensionals. Add paper poinsettia using a dimensional.

To add contrast to the right hand side under the sentiments, I punched a ½ circle using my ¾” circle punch and red card stock and adhered them in place. Then stamped my sentiments on the vanilla card stock, sponged them and adhere them on top of my circles.

I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole on the right hand side, so that I could thread my red grosgrain, and add my chipboard charm.

Layer photo on red, then artichoke card stock. Add old olive punched photo corners using a dimensional.

Details:
Card Stock – Old Olive, Real Red, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Ink – Black Stazon, Real Red, Old Olive
Stamps – Jolliest Time of the Year, Many Merry Messages, ABC Alphabet Upper & Lower
Other – Aquapainter, Watercolor Crayons, Crop-A-Dile, Red Grosgrain, Sponge Dauber, Dashing DSP, Photo Corner Punch, ¾” circle Punch

Scallop 3D Ornament Tutorial

Recently while cleaning up my stamp area, I ran across a Basic Grey Ornament Kit I had purchased some time ago - I thought I'd try making them using my Scallop Punch and Dashing Designer Series Paper - here's the end result

Scallop 3D Ornament Tutorial

Supplies you'll need:

20 Scallops punched from DSP
Elastic Cord
Snail
Scoring Tool
Pretties Kit

Score a triangle on all your scallop pieces and crease

Select 5 scallop pieces for your ornament top. Using your snail, adhere one flap from two different circles, make sure that the triangle points meet, and your scallop edges are flush. Use this same process to attach the remaining 3 scallop pieces to complete the top of your ornament. Repeat to create your bottom piece. Set these aside.

Using your snail adhere the remaining 10 scallop pieces together, alternating the points up and down as shown to form a straight section

Snail the two ends together to form a ring, this will become the middle of your ornament

To finish your ornament, thread your elastic cord through the center of your top piece, tie on a bead from the Pretties Kit, using snail, adhere the flaps from the top to the available flaps of the middle section. Thread the cord through the center of the bottom, adhere the bottom flaps to the available middle section. Tie a Pretties Bead on the end of your elastic cording.

Bloggers Challenge Week 11

This weeks bloggers challenge was to use the card layout on page 12 of the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Here's my card on using this layout (click to enlarge)

Some notes about this card - the "faux brads" were created by punching the Double Circle into my soft sky card stock, then adhering where I wanted the brads to be with snail. The dot's in the scallop were created by using the Pick a Petal Brass Stencil and the tool kit, then punching with the Scallop Punch. The star chipboard was a left over piece from the On Board Trimmings (Holiday Mini Catty) that I had leftover from my Trim the Tree Class.

Card Details:
Card stock - Always Artichoke, Soft Sky, Confetti White
Ink - Black Stazon, Purely Pomegranate, Blush Blossom
Other - Aquapainter, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Scallop Punch, Double Circle Punch, Tool Kit, Pick A Petal Brass Template, Artichoke Grosgrain, Bashful Blue Grosgrain

This week I have the talented Gerrie Johnnic as my Bloggers Challenge Guest - here's her rendition of this weeks Bloggers Challenge layout. (click to enlarge)

Be sure to check out the talented Bloggers Challenge Players Blogs on my sidebar. It's amazing to see so many different ideas using one simple sketch layout!

Have a great weekend!
