TechnoStamper Sketch Challenge - Playtime

This is MJ's sketch #15 over at TechnoStamper. Another great sketch, and yes, I've rotated my sketch again to work with this new image from the Playtime Sheet at Artistic Outpost. The image on this sheet is actually fellow DT member Gerrie Johnnic's DH when he was a boy - isn't that cool!

I used the Watercolor Distress Technique from a past TJNL issue. I wanted a soft look for the image so I used distress inks in Scattered Straw and Distressed Rose. The main image is stamped in Ranger Archival Black. I punched a hole in the top and bottom and added black grosgrain tied in a bow - to follow the sketch layout. Be sure to check out the new plates Adventure and Playtime at Artistic Outpost - on sale for a limited time!

For my 2nd card - I kept my layout rotated. I masked my frame from Artistic Outpost's Playtime sheet, stamping it in black. On this one I cut off the bows on the frame. I used eclipse tape across the bottom and side of my frame so I could stamp my flowers from Bloomin' Beautiful. I colored my flower with Groovy Guava, Certainly Celery and Chocolate Chip. I restamped and colored a small portion of the flower images, and placed them on my main image with dimensionals to give it some depth. (Paper Tole Technique). I added a bit of Chocolate Chip around the frame. My image is layered on Basic Grey's Boxer designer paper, then Groovy Guava card stock.

Here's MJ's original Sketch - if you'd like to play along....

Bloomin' Beautiful - Artsy Dimension

The background piece on this card uses the Artsy Dimension Technique that I wrote for the TJNL...While I had out my dimensional pearls, I decided to use them as my paints for my flower image from Bloomin' Beautiful. To use your dimensional pearls as paints, simply place a drop in a paint well, or on a scrap of paper, dip in your aquapainter, squeeze a tiny bit of water and mix. Use your aquapainter to paint with the pearls. While my pearly paint was still wet, I poured on some clear embossing powder to add some dimension to my flowers. For the vase - I used the Paper Piecing technique and a piece of my Afternoon Tea Designer Series Paper.

Details:
Stamps - Bloomin' Beautiful
Ink - Black Stazon
Card Stock - So Saffron, Black, Ballet Blue, Watercolor
Other - Cuttlebug Folder, Dimensional Pearls - Lettuce, Butterscotch, Denim, Afternoon Tea DSP, Aquapainter, Clear EP, Heat Gun

Altered Bracelet

I recently received some of the Ranger 1" x 1" Memory Frames from Innovative Stamp Creations, and couldn't wait to make something with them. I love the look of the Reinker Splash Technique -TJNL, and thought it would be the perfect technique to use with my images from the Art 4 Frames stamp sheet. (click to enlarge)

I used my Alcohol Reinkers in the following colors - Stonewashed, Wild Plum and Lettuce, to do the Reinker Splash Technique. With my new supplies from Innovative Stamp Creations, I also got some of Rangers Glossy Paper, what a difference the glossy paper from Ranger makes. No more ink blobs on my paper. To finish off my bracelet I added a jewelry clasp.

Stained Glass

Here's the Easter Card I made for my parents - I'm sharing it today - as it has to go in the mail tomorrow to reach them on time!

I thought the Easter Blessings set would be perfect for that Stained Glass look - so I used the Stained Crystal technique from the 10/03 TJNL to add color to my images. To keep with that stained class look - I used the Floating Acetate technique (02/06 TJNL) for my card base. I recently received some Crystal Clear Card Stock from Flourishes - and I have to say, this has got to be some of the best stuff for making acetate cards! Chocolate Poly Twill is wrapped inside the card and tied onto one of SU's new ribbon slides from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware.

Faux Cracked Glass Tutorial

The latest TJNL covers the Cracked Glass Technique. Last year when I was at the annual SU Convention they showed us how to do cracked class without having to wait for it to cool, hence the name Faux Cracked Glass. Here I've done the Faux Cracked Glass using the Cracked Grout Mosaic stamp from StarvingArtistamps.

Save 10% on your StarvingArtist purchase - click here for details.

On to the how to of the Faux Cracked Glass - apply your UTEE just as if you were doing the cracked glass, but on your last layer, while your UTEE is still warm press a background image into your UTEE, let it sit until cooled, then lift off. (I like to put versamark on my image before I press it into the UTEE that way it's easier to lift off.
