TechnoStamper Sketch Challenge

It's Monday, time for another one of MJ's Monday Sketch Challenges....This weeks sketch was a very easy one - I've created 3 different cards to show just how versatile a sketch can be.

For this card, I rotated the sketch on it's side. I used the Burnished Embossing Technique from a past issue of the TJNL, with my Ornate Tooled Leather stamp. I stamped my Silhouette Asters from Starving Artistamps in Blue Bayou Ink on white card stock, then cut out a circle with my coluzzle, I layered this on a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock that I punched with my Marvy Scallop punch, then pierced holes with my piercing tool. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!'s Love & Happiness rub ons.

For this next card, I used the Wedding Party set from Flourishes. I stamped it in black ink on shimmer card stock, added color with watercolor crayons. I added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the body of her dress with my Quickie Glue Pen, then gave her a necklace, and accented her veil and dress with some gems. The sentiment is white embossed.

On this last card I rotated the sketch again, and replaced the circle image in MJ's sketch with a butterfly.

Details:
Stamps - Baroque Motifs, Touch of Nature, Holidays & Wishes
Ink - Pumpkin, Chocolate Chip
Card Stock - Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
Other - Dimensionals, Paper Piercing Tool

Color Collage - Where's Waldo?

My current favorite technique has got to be the Color Collage from the April TJNL - what a great way to add a lot of color and images to one project. For this card I used all Ranger Distress Inks (Old Paper, Frayed Burlap, Brushed Corduroy, Shabby Shutters, Dried Marigold, Broken China and Worn Lipstick). Because the Distress Inks stay wet longer, I used white card stock to stamp my images.

All stamps are from Starving Artistamps - don't forget you can save 10% on all orders from Starving Artistamps - just enter code Lisadis when you check out.

TechnoStamper Sketch Challenge 4

It's Monday and that means it's another sketch from my friend Mary Jo over at TechnoStamper - she'll have the sketch posted at noon CST along with a link to some of the other players blogs - be sure to check it out. If you'd like to play along -just leave a comment here with a link to your creation - if you're uploading on SCS, please use keyword TSSC4. Now on to this weeks sketch...

I've decided to turn my cards for this weeks sketch - yep, I like this sketch so much, I made two of them!

For this first card - I did a little paper piecing. I stamped my focal image onto Scarlet's Letter designer paper by Basic Grey, and cut out my iris pieces. I then stamped my image onto SU's wild wasabi textured card stock, and cut it out. Then I stamped my image on very vanilla so that I had something to put my images onto , then I began putting my pieces together - sorta like putting together a puzzle. Here's the end results...

Don't forget you can get a 10% discount on all your purchases from Starving Artistamps - just enter code lisadis in the discount code box. Once you enter the code, click recalculate. You should see the discount come up.

My next card also uses the Scarlet's Letter paper from Basic Grey, here I've teamed it up with some images from Innovative Stamp Creations Friendship sheet. My image is stamped on SU's shimmer white card stock, and colored with markers.

Have a great Monday!

Faux Cracked Glass Tutorial

The latest TJNL covers the Cracked Glass Technique. Last year when I was at the annual SU Convention they showed us how to do cracked class without having to wait for it to cool, hence the name Faux Cracked Glass. Here I've done the Faux Cracked Glass using the Cracked Grout Mosaic stamp from StarvingArtistamps.

Save 10% on your StarvingArtist purchase - click here for details.

On to the how to of the Faux Cracked Glass - apply your UTEE just as if you were doing the cracked glass, but on your last layer, while your UTEE is still warm press a background image into your UTEE, let it sit until cooled, then lift off. (I like to put versamark on my image before I press it into the UTEE that way it's easier to lift off.

Exciting News...

I was recently asked by Tracey at StarvingArtistamps to move from Guest Designer to a spot on the regular Design Team. Here's a card I created using some of the Red Castle Flying Seeds images available at Starving Artistamps. I used the Pastel Detailing technique from the 12/07 TJNL.

Under my focal image I used this really cool mulberry paper - also from StarvingArtistamps

Bloggers Challenge

This weeks Bloggers Challenge was to create a Sympathy Card. This is always something no one likes to do, but everyone has to send them. I decided to create 3 and share them with you....

This first cards uses all SU products.
Stamps - Time Well Spent, Baroque Motifs, Hugs & Wishes, and A Beautiful Thing (flower center)

This next card uses stamps from Flourishes - I just love the Flourished Words Set, and the Flower is from Fantasy Floral Garden. The DSP you see is from SU's new DSP, Bali Breeze. Flourishes has just released some great new sets - be sure to check them out!

The last card I have to show you uses the Artful Inkables Blossoms & Petals and the sentiment from SU's Hugs & Wishes. To create the BG, I pressed glossy card stock to my Marker Wash card shown here, then let it dry, and stamped my images in basic brown ink.
If you'd like to join this weeks challenge and create a sympathy card - be sure to leave a link in this post, so I can check it out!

Have a great weekend!

Bloggers Challenge

Here it is, week 24 of the Bloggers Challenge! This weeks challenge was to use watercolor crayons on your card or project. There's so many great ways to use watercolor crayons, I could have made a ton of samples to share with you.

This first sample uses the Embossed Watercolor Crayon Technique from a past issue of the TJNL. Can you see how the letters were colored with watercolors - see how they shine...

When you open this up, you'll see the gift card on the inside. I made these to fit inside the Gift Card Envelopes.

Details:
Stamps - Big on Christmas, The Snowflake Spot
Ink - White, Red, Versamark
Other - WC Crayons, Black EP, Clear EP, Sticky Strip, Word Window Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Sponge Dauber
Card Stock - Real Red, Confetti, Glorious Green

My next sample uses the Technicolor Watercolor Technique from the 12/07 TJNL. I just love the Fern Leaf Tooled Leather Background stamp from Starving Artistamps. I stamped the background image on my confetti with Night of Navy and sponged around the edges with my navy ink. I used shades of blue watercolor crayons to create my Technicolor Watercolor, and stamped my background with Navy ink, again I sponged around the edge. The flower image is also from Artful Inkables . I colored the flower image with markers, stamped on my confetti and sponged the edges with Navy ink.

Details:
Card Stock - Navy, Confetti, Bashful Blue
Ink - Navy
Other - WC Crayons, Markers, Sponge Dauber
Stamps - Starving Artistamps - Fern Leaf Tooled Leather Background
Flower - Artful Inkables

Have a great weekend!
