Afternoon Tea 4"x4" Flip Book

It's been awhile since I took out my Bind It All... I just got some great clear covers from ISC, and the Afternoon Tea DSP was just begging to be made into a Flip Book...The sentiment and flower are from the set Live your Dream

Here's a look at the inside - perfect to add photos and journaling...

The clear covers were added to both the front and back of my Flip Book, this will help protect the book against wear.

Bind It All Card Organizer

Bind it All Card Organizer

Here's a quick and easy card organizer you can make using a few sheets of card stock, some Embellishment Papers, a Bind It All, and chipboard.

(click to enlarge) inside view with cards

  • Cover your chipboard with your embellishment paper, then punch your holes with the Bind It All
  • To make the inside pockets - use a piece of 9 3/8" x 7 13/16" card stock. Score 2" up from the bottom to create your pocket. Score 4 11/16" in (from the 9 3/8" side) for your middle score. Fold in half, fold your 2" pocket up. Adhere your Embellishment Papers to the 2" area if desired. Then place into your Bind It All and punch. Repeat as desired for the number of pocket pages you want for your book
  • Add coil binding. I used a 3/4" coils for my book - I added 4 pocket pages
  • Embellish the front cover as desired

Stamps - Rustic Artsy Swirls Sentiment - Artsy Trinkets #1

ETA - Melissa asked "does each 9 3/8 x 7 13/16 sheet make one single sided pocket or one double sided pocket? Oh my I have another question, which side do you put into the coils; the folded side (which would then open up or the other side which would ensure a single page)??? "

Hopefully this visual will help you out - out of your 9 3/8 x 7 13/16 you will have created 2 pockets when scored - you'll punch the BIA holes on the open side (remember to have all your scores in place before punching - this way you are punching through all layers at the same time)

4"x 4" Bind It All Flip Book Tutorial
By: Lisa Somerville

Supplies:

Card stock/Designer Series Paper (DSP)
3 pieces of card stock 8” x 3 ¾” - score 2” from each 8” edge
4 pieces of 4” x 4” DSP for covers
10 pieces of 3 ½” x 1 ¾” DSP
4 pieces of 3 ¾” x 3 ½” DSP or card stock

Glue Stick
Bind It All
BIA Coil – I used ½” - although the ¾” would work
Mono Adhesive Tape or Sticky Strip
Bone Folder
2 – 4” Chipboard Covers

Cover your 4” chipboard front and back using glue stick and the pieces of 4”x 4” DSP – set aside. (If desired you can sand the edges with a sanding block and add ink with a sponge dauber)

Using the following diagrams place your DSP pieces onto your 4” and 2” panels of card stock

Inside view of page 1

Backside view of page 1 (the 4" panel is what will be facing you when your book is bound)

Inside view of page 2

Backside view of page 2

Inside view of page 3

Backside view of page 3

Now you’re ready to use your Bind It All to punch your pages

Set your Bind It All to “C” (cover) and punch your front and back covers

Set your Bind It All to “D” (inner pages) and punch your inner pages as shown (it may help to refer to the photos above as to where the DSP was placed)

Fold in one of the 2” flaps on page 1 – insert into your Bind It All and punch

Fold in the 2” flap on page 2 (that does NOT have DSP on both sides) – insert into your Bind It All and punch

Fold in one of the 2” flaps on page 3 – insert into your Bind It All and punch

Now you are going to attached your pages together as follows

Lay pages 1 and 2 down – front view up. Adhere tape to the right 2” panel on page 1 and adhere it to the left 2” panel on page 2 (making sure to line it up with the punches from the Bind It All)

This is a view of page 1 after it’s been attached to page 2

Lay page 2 down so that you are working on the back of the 4” panel, add tape and adhere it to the back 4” back panel of page 3 (making sure to line it up with the punches from the Bind It All)

This is a view of all pages when taped together

Now you are ready to add the coil to your book

Assemble in order from left to right

Back cover, front cover, and pages (note the 2” panels from page 3 are on the top). Slide in the double OWire binding.

Adjust the micro variable knob to the size wire you are using, place the book into the wire closing channel, bring down the handle and release.

Funky Vintage 4"x4" Flip Book

I recently received some embellishment paper - Funky Vintage - Lizzie Collection from Innovative Stamp Creations manufactured by Making Memories. This 6"x6" paper pad has some incredible papers!

I made a 4"x4" flip book using the Funky Vintage papers. The image on the front of the book is also from Innovative Stamp Creations (stamp sheet - Art Frames 4). The image is stamped on a piece of stampbord, colored, and highlighted with a white gel pen, then attached to coordinating card stock, then to the front of the book. I used my BIA machine with chocolate coils to hold my book together.

Here's some additional views of the inside

Interactive Color Combination Book

I recently came across a thread on SCS that talked about using your Bind It All and card stock to make a Color Combination Book. Jan Tink had one she made last year using the rollabind - she said she took it apart and redid hers with the Bind It All - you can see hers on her blog. I made mine a little differently - I used coasters for my front and back covers and covered them with the Baroque Background Designer Series paper.

Open View - note how the pages flip, so your book becomes interactive - great for picking out your color combinations!
