Bloggers Challenge - Things with Wings

Happy Bloggers Challenge Friday! Thanks to those who played along with last weeks Splash of Color Challenge.  This weeks challenge is Things with Wings.

To create my flipbook, I die cut the Black panels using Top Dog Dies A2#4 Die, cutting a total of four panels, I adhered Prima pattern paper to the center panels, then adhered the Black panels back to back to form the pages.  To embellish the pages, I added a few die cuts from Black card stock using the Leafy Flourishes Die.  The front and back covers are cut from Silhouette Chipboard, then layered with Black card stock and Prima Pattern Paper.  I used the Bind-It-All to bind the album.

To embellish the front cover, I die cut the label die from Black card stock using the Pocket Albums Die¸then scored the die cut panel in half to created a mini file folder.  The sentiment from Artistic Outpost, is White embossed on the Black card stock , I added a bit of White paint to add to the chalkboard look.  To further embellish, I added Black die cuts using the Leafy Flourish Die, Seam Binding, Zva Creative Mini Roses, a Stick Pin and a butterfly cut from the pattern paper.

Details:
Stamps – Artistic Outpost
Ink – Versamark, Rather Gathered Twigs Distress Ink
Card Stock – Black

Other – Bind-it-All, Zva Creative Mini Roses, Seam Binding, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Big Shot, Top Dog Dies Leafy Flourishes/A2#4 Die/Pocket Albums Die, Prima Pattern Paper, Stick Pin, White Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, White Pain, Scor-Pal, Quickie Glue Pen

ODBD Designer's Favorites Flower Hunt Game

Welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs Designers Favorites Flower Hunt Game!  Today, One Dozen of the Bread Sticks are sharing projects, and our top 4 favorite ODBD sets to celebrate the 4th anniversary of Our Daily Bread Designs.

Since flowers are one of the traditional gifts for a 4th Anniversary, we have decided to shower ODBD with a bouquet of flowers.  These flowers are randomly placed on SIX of the designers blog sidebars labeled  Designer's Flower Hunt Game with the name of a flower.  Look for the Flower Badges as you make your way through the participating designers blogs listed below, be sure to write down the designers name and flower found on their blog, you'll need it to enter the random drawing.

For my project I created a Flip Book using one of my favorite ODBD Sets, Not Forgotten.  I like to patriotic cards and gifts, and just love the collage of soldier on this set, with the beautiful American Flag in the background.  On the front cover I stamped the Old Flag Background in Antique Linen Distress ink on the Bo Bunny Liberty pattern paper.  The soldier image is stamped in Ranger Black Archival, on a scrap of Liberty Pattern Paper, then colored with STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell Watercolor Pencils and Gamsol.  The sentiment comes from the God Bless America set.

Here's a few additional photos, I embossed some of the panels with Embossing Folders and highlighted the raised areas with Ranger Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, and added  a quote from God Bless America and a sentiment from Not Forgotten.  I didn't add any photos, as I wanted the person receiving the book to be able to add their own pictures.

A few of my other favorite ODBD sets are the Dahlia, Keep my Lamp Burning and The Mighty Sea.  The beautiful Dahlia is perfect for cards, scrapbook pages and altered items.  I have a thing for Lighthouses, and love the collage image from the Keep my Lamp Burning set, not to mention the set lends itself nicely to many stamp techniques.  The Mighty Sea is a favorite of mine, because I love sound of the waves crashing on the shore and sand between my toes.  What are some of your favorite ODBD Sets?

Be sure to stop by and visit the other participating designers blogs to see their projects and find out what sets are their favorites:
Grace * Patter * Angie * Chris * Sabrina * Lori * Fran * Lisa (you are here) * Connie * Sue * Debi * Gemiel

After you've finished hopping through the list of participating blogs, left comments and found the 6 flowers, send an email to Grace with the names of the Six Designers and the Flowers they had on their sidebars.   THREE random winners from all correct emails will win one FREE ODBD SET of your choice!  All emails must be sent by March 15th, 9:00 PM DST.  Winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog March 19th.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Don't forget to look for your flower!

'Tis the Season - eCraft Mitten Ornament

So, what are you crafting for Christmas this year?  I've always got a list of things I want to create or at least try to make before the gift giving season rolls around, that way I know what I want to mass produce.  I always like to include a little something that's hand crafted with my gifts.  This might just be one of those gifts I mass produce this year!

This week, myself and the other eCraft Design Team members were challenged to create something Christmas Themed with the eCraft , using fabric and stamps from Pink by Design, our November Sponsor.  I'll be honest with you, I haven't really sewed anything in a LONG time.  Maybe an occasional button here or there, some ripped hoddies and jeans, but actually sewn, nope not in years!  The first Christmas I was married I sewed Christmas Tree skirts for everyone for gifts, and let me tell you the eCraft sure would have come in handy back then to cut all those squares!

I used the Winter Mitten Set from Creations by AR as my template, cutting the cotton material for the mitten with the eCraft, then cutting the Cuff and Tag from Sticky Back Canvas.  Not having any stuffing on hand, I filled the mitten with dry peas, sealed with 3L's Adhesive Sheets, and added the Cuffs.  To embellish the mitten I created a 5 Petal Flower using 2" Circles I cut from Muslin Fabric.  Watch for a future tutorial on how to create the flowers!  Then added some Buttons, the stamped tag and a hanger created from Bind it All Coils.  Click here for downloadable directions and a supply list.

For added inspiration using this weeks Challenge Theme, be sure to stop by the eCraft Blog to see what the other designers created this week.

Christmas BIA Book - Bloggers Challenge

Happy Bloggers Challenge Friday!  Thanks to those who played along with last weeks Falling for You Challenge, it's always wonderful to see your take on the challenges.  This weeks challenge is to use cardboard.  Some ideas - cardboard embellies, books, recycle or alter a cardboard container or box.

For my project, I created a Cardboard Bind-it-All Book for Christmas

No stamping here, as I used some papers from Donna Salazar and Tim Holtz along with some Glimmer Mist Sprays and Distress Inks.  The edges are distressed with the Prima Distress Tool, the book is bound with the Bind-it-all.

If you'd like to play along with this weeks Bloggers Challenge, please link back to this post on your blog and mention you created your card for the Bloggers Challenge Cardboard Challenge. Please add your link using the Link Tool below, your link should be a direct link to your Bloggers Challenge Post, use your name as the Title. It's Hip to be Square - 3 Pocket Caddy

I'm glad you could stop by for today's JustRite - It's Hip to be Square Blog Hop! The JustRite Design Team is showcasing creations made using the new November Releases.

I created this cute 3 Pocket Caddy altering this template a bit. Instead of having a circle handle, I opted to print the directions on copy paper, then following the measurements, scored and cut my card stock, keeping my middle section square. The base of my Caddy is made from Grey card stock, again I printed the pattern on copy paper, and used the measurements to create my box. To angle the side panels, I used the Tag Corner Punch. I added a layer of Black card stock, and some Night & Day Specialty Papers from Stampin' Up! to embellish my Caddy.

I created some 3" x 3" cards using the JustRite 2" Square Wood Stamper, 2" Square Decorative Frames, and the new Just a Note Borders & Centers. I placed the Border and Center onto the 2" Wood Stamper then stamped in Black on White Card stock. I punched the sentiment using a 1" Square, layering onto a 1-1/4" Black panel, then onto the stamped Border, a Black panel then to my base card. I added some Kaiser Gems to embellish the border.

I created a Bind It All Note Pad Holder to place in the center of the Caddy, and a Bind It All Post it Note Holder and Pen to place in the back compartment of the Caddy. To embellish both the Note Pad and Post It Note Holders, I added monograms as my centers using the Times New Roman Uppercase Font in 95pt and 50pt, then placed my Decorative Frame Border onto the 2" Wood Stamper, stamping in Black on White card stock. This time I trimmed closely to the frame, mounting on a Black, then White panel, then onto my Bind It All Projects.

JustRite Dates to Remember Bind It All Calendar

Looking to keep myself a bit more organized, I created a Dates to Remember Book, that has a Perpetual Calendar and a Monthly Calendar. Now I can jot down my monthly birthday's or other special events on the Perpetual Calendar side, and have a Monthly Calendar to view on the other side.

For the base of my book, I used 5" x 7" Black Book Board from 7 Gypsies. The beautiful image is from Innovative Stamp Creations Serenity Plate, stamped in Black Archival on a piece of card stock I had done the Spectrum Roll Technique on. The sentiment was created with the JustRite 15pt Font and Horizontal Wood Stamper. I used a SAMJ for proper placement on my Designer Paper from Little Yellow Bicycle.

For the inside, on the Perpetual Calendar side, I stamped the month using the JustRite Calendar and Borders Centers Oval Set and the Horizontal Wood Stamper, using a SAMJ to center on my calendar. (Note, be sure to wipe excess ink from your wood stamper before stamping on your calendar. Also, I did trim around my months, I like to remove any excess rubber where I can to prevent any ink splotches.)

For the right hand side above my calendar, I stamped the months using the JustRite Calendar and Borders Centers Oval Set and 1-3/4" x 2-5/16" Wood Stamper, stamping the month and border in ink to match my DSP on White Card stock, then cutting with Spellbinders Ovals. Both stamped white ovals are layered on Ovals matching the ink used.

To bind the book, I used a Bind it All and 3/4" Silver coils. Just a reminder, you can click the photos in my blog post for a larger view.

Don't forget to stop back on tomorrow, Innovative Stamp Creations is having a Birthday Birthday Bash Celebration in honor of their 6th Anniversary! The ISC DT will be doing a blog hop, I'll have ISC Blog Candy and more!

ISC Challenge 19

This weeks challenge is to make a mini book using Vinyl Sleeves and ISC Images....After I made my book, I went back to read the challenge - it called for ISC Holiday Images, it was late an no time to re-create my book - so here's my book using some NEW ISC Images.

To begin, I adhered my Christmas of Magic DSP to my chipboard, then ran it through my Big Kick cutting it with my Top Note Die, leaving the left edge off. I stamped my image from Presence of Trees in Artichoke, as well as my sentiment from Be Thankful. "Family Memories" also from the Be Thankful plate was stamped on a punch out from the Christmas of Magic DSP. I added some Dew Drops with Glossy Accents.
The tabs on my inside pages are stamped with words from the Flair of Summer and Rustic Artsy Swirls. I used my Bind it All and 1/2" Chocolate Coils to bind my book together.

Need to order some things from ISC? For one week only, starting 11/20 thru 11/27, you can SAVE 10% on your order from Innovative Stamp Creations - simply enter code lisas at checkout and save!

Top Note Die Cut Christmas Album

Here's a book I came up with for Christmas using the new Top Note Die, Holiday Treasures DSP and my Bind-it-All. The small word stamps are from the JustRite Small Letter Set.

The new exclusive Top Note Die Cut from Stampin' Up! is great for making your own albums. Inspired by the BIA Chipboard Albums, I was able to cut my own using the new Top Note Die - it's quick and easy. To be sure you get the same placement each time - so that your inside pages will line up with your cover - mark a line on your die - then use this as your guide when cutting with your Big Shot.

This is another entry I created for the JustRite Stampin' Champion Contest. I have a project featured on the JustRite Blog for this weeks contest entries, don't forget voting is open through Monday.

If you have JustRite Stampers be sure to check out the contest details here to see how you can enter, there's some great prizes to be won!

To keep my album closed, I added my Jumbo Eyelets with my Crop-a-dile and tied on some 5/8" chocolate grosgrain.

Here's another way you could cut your Top Note Die to make an album.

Details:
Stamps - JustRite Small Letter Set
Card Stock - Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Holiday Treasurers DSP
Ink - Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip
Other - Bind-It-All, Big Shot, Top Note Die, Circle Punches 1-3/8", 1-3/4", 1-1/4", 1", Jumbo Eyelets, 5/8" Grosgrain, Crop-a-Dile, Glue Stick

Bind It All Card Organizer

Bind it All Card Organizer

Here's a quick and easy card organizer you can make using a few sheets of card stock, some Embellishment Papers, a Bind It All, and chipboard.

(click to enlarge) inside view with cards

  • Cover your chipboard with your embellishment paper, then punch your holes with the Bind It All
  • To make the inside pockets - use a piece of 9 3/8" x 7 13/16" card stock. Score 2" up from the bottom to create your pocket. Score 4 11/16" in (from the 9 3/8" side) for your middle score. Fold in half, fold your 2" pocket up. Adhere your Embellishment Papers to the 2" area if desired. Then place into your Bind It All and punch. Repeat as desired for the number of pocket pages you want for your book
  • Add coil binding. I used a 3/4" coils for my book - I added 4 pocket pages
  • Embellish the front cover as desired

Stamps - Rustic Artsy Swirls Sentiment - Artsy Trinkets #1

ETA - Melissa asked "does each 9 3/8 x 7 13/16 sheet make one single sided pocket or one double sided pocket? Oh my I have another question, which side do you put into the coils; the folded side (which would then open up or the other side which would ensure a single page)??? "

Hopefully this visual will help you out - out of your 9 3/8 x 7 13/16 you will have created 2 pockets when scored - you'll punch the BIA holes on the open side (remember to have all your scores in place before punching - this way you are punching through all layers at the same time)
