How do you Evolve?

My friend Pat recently posted that question on her blog. I can vividly recall 6 years ago when I started stamping....I'm sure you can relate, no layers, two-step stamping....Definitely Decorative Daisy was popular. I can't find that card right now, and I was so proud of those cards. I made them that year for the boys teachers for end of the year gifts.
Here's a look at a card I made around that same time - Gerrie, who had read Pat's blog post, thought she'd remind me of how I started out....Thanks for that reminder Gerrie.
Yep, that was my work back in 2003....Fast forward a bit I've got almost a year of stamping under my belt, I found the Technique Junkies Newsletter via a google search, and started playing with techniques...My iris cart can no longer house my stamps and supplies....In December 2003, I was a Guest Designer for the TJNL. This was great - more of a chance to play with techniques - time to evolve...In 2004, I joined the TJNL as a designer, and for me, that's one of the best things that's happened to improve my stamping abilities. Do I have a particular style? Some days I think yes, sometimes, I'm all over the place with what I stamp. I can do clean and simple on one card, and the next ones might be distressed/grunged or full of layers.
Over the years I've learned, sometimes less is more, how to make my focal image pop and that the color coach is my best friend. I've also learned what works for me, what's not my style, and when it's time to kick it up a notch. I've also made a lot of great friends who share my passion for stamping, and for that I am grateful.
If you want to take a peek at some of my earlier stamp creations - you can check them out here.

Well, what can I say? We have evolved together, I guess. I think my post should have been "I evolve ever-other month!" We do it together, don't we?

I couldn't do it without you -- I like all of your styles!
